Let me tell you this by analysis of a case report of Traumatic Ulcer caused by accidental lip biting following topical anaesthesia in a 4 year old child.
"Accidents happen when instructions are not being followed “.
For filling if your doctor has numb your teeth then follow the precautions otherwise it can lead to an ulcer like this.
It’s a picture of real case of traumatic ulcer.
Precautions-
Parents to be taught to keep eye on their kids until the effect of anaesthesia is gone.
Children should be requested for 1-2 hours in office stay until the numbness is gone.
A cotton roll left in labial vestibule for a while is one preventive strategy.
Parents may become alarmed by epethelialization during healing process as lesion sometimes look worrisome even though it is not.
Prescribed-
Acetomenophen oral suspension 5ml every six hours for 3 days and continued after if needed.
Multiple daily applications of ice packs and saline rinses 2-3 times a day.
After ten days lesion was healed.
